Introduction to Yoga/Yoga Therapy – Ages: Adult

This class is designed for beginners to yoga as well as for individuals who are dealing with specific challenges. This gentle 60 minute practise will offer new ways to alleviate pain and tension, promote strength and stability and allow greater mobility in the body. Students will be given detailed instruction on poses and offered several variations to meet personal needs. Focus will also be placed on breth work, meditation and mindfulness. Please bring your own yoga mat.
Level 2 Yoga – Ages: Adult

Revitalize your body and spirit. This class will further enhance your flexibility and strength. We will include practises of pranayama, deep relaxation and meditation. Come and continue to develop your yoga practise through advanced poses. Please bring your own yoga mat.

In our fast paced world, we sometimes miss opportunities to spend time with our children. Parent/child yoga focuses on strengthening the attachment between you and your child while gaining flexibility and building strength and endurance. This 60 minute practise will include partner poses, individual exercises, games and activities that encourage deep connection between you and your child. All levels of experience welcome. Please bring your own yoga mats.

This 60 minute practise will focus on physical postures, breathing techniques and meditation. Evolve your practise by introducing new postures and learning to focus the mind. Please bring your own yoga mat.
Mom & Baby Yoga – Ages: Adult

After the journey of pregnancy ends, continue on the journey of motherhood by reconnecting with your body and your baby. This class will focus on breath and basic yoga postures to calm the mind and regain strength. No previous yoga experience is necessary. Recommended for moms with newborns up to the age of crawling (no babies who are already crawling or walking please!). Please bring a blanket, pillow, comfy clothing, water, a yoga mat, and anything else you or your baby may need.

Zumba – Ages: Adult

Zumba is a fusion of Latin and International music – dance themes that create a dynamic, exciting, effective fitness system! The routines feature aerobic/fitness interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body. Zumba utilizes the principles of fitness interval training to maximize caloric output, fat burning and total body toning. It is a mixture of body sculpting movements and easy to follow dance steps. Zumba combines high energy and motivating music with unique moves that allow the Zumba participants to dance away their worries. It is based on the principle that a workout should be “FUN AND EASY TO DO” allowing Zumba participants to stick to the Zumba fitness program and achieve long-term health benefits. Zumba is a ‘feel-happy’ workout that is great for both the body and the mind. Please bring a bottle of water.

Get ready to work HARD in this sixty minute perfect mix of cardio and total body toning. Boot camp drills, body weight resistance training and core training. Perfect for those who want to work hard without choreography. This class is suitable for both beginners and advanced as multi-level moves and options are shown throughout the class. Fusion – Ages: Adult

Fusion is a unique blend of fitness conditioning, yoga, and pilates. Class content includes yoga and pilates postures fused with fitness strength, balance and flexibility exercises. Focus is on core and stabilizing techniques. All classes end in relaxation. Easy to follow and suitable for all levels. Please bring a yoga mat.
Good Food Box Program
The MDLCA will be offering the Good Food Box program starting in January, 2012. The Good Food Box is a program run by Calgary’s Community Kitchen. You can pre-order boxes of fresh produce which will be delivered to the Community Hall on the scheduled day and then you pick it up that evening. GOOD FOOD BOXES are filled with fruits and vegetables. The GOOD FOOD BOX may include: potatoes, onions, carrots, tomatoes, oranges, celery, bananas, cauliflower, apples, melon, cabbages, cucumbers, grapes, lettuce, green peppers, etc.
