Community Crime Statistics For September

Compiled in September and published in October, we have a list of the various property-related crimes committed in Copperfield and Mahogany during the month. This is a quick reminder to residents to make sure you take some precautions against thefts and other crimes. Many of these problems can be avoided through simply locking the doors to your vehicles or your house, and these simple actions can help you save money and time in the future.

Here is a reminder where dogs aren't allowed, as city bylaw will issue tickets from $150-$250 in fines. Thank you.

A message from your Calgary Police Service Community Resource Officer

All areas have seen an increase in residential break-ins, vehicle prowlings, and thefts from insecure garages.

In order to proactively prevent these crimes, we would like to pass on the following tips:

  •  Don?t leave your garage door up or unlocked at any time and ensure all home doors and windows are secure.
  • Make sure all valuables are either locked, out of sight or removed from your vehicle, including the electronic door opener.
  • Ensure your vehicle is locked and secure when you leave it, even for a short period of time.
  • Do not leave spare keys in your vehicle, even if they are out of sight.
  • Consider a home alarm system and/or security lighting.
  • Get to know your neighbours so you can all be the eyes and ears of the community.
  • Report suspicious activity to police. Call 911 to report a crime in progress.

If you require any further information, please contact your local Community Resource Officer, Const. Andrew Morton at 403-428-6800.
